Amy Bednarski, LPC,
I am a firm believer that every individual possesses unique and special strengths, and I have a passion for helping clients to be able to recognize and harness these strengths, when the challenges of life may seem to overshadow them. The therapeutic relationship is a powerful one, thus I utilize a non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach to provide you with a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where you can heal. I believe in the dialectical assumption that you are doing the best that you can, and at the same time, that you can learn ways to resolve unhealthy beliefs and maladaptive behaviors which have created distress in your life. I recognize that it can be difficult to admit to our vulnerabilities and struggles, and it can be even more difficult to ask for help. I am here to provide a safe space for you so you can discover your authentic self. In the words of Brené Brown, “Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.” I would be honored to have the opportunity to support and guide you along in your journey to peace and wellness.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 15 years of experience providing therapy to individuals in both residential and outpatient settings. I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents in the judicial and foster care system, and have worked with individuals with a broad array of symptoms, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and relational difficulties. I utilize a client centered approach, and have been trained in EMDR and Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT). I also have received specialized training in working with LGBTQ individuals.
I look forward to working with you!
